[Tradition questioned, laughter guaranteed.]
Good theatre is a sanctuary for exploring morality—not a pulpit for preaching, but a living space where taboos are confronted, inherited values questioned, and perhaps fresher truths emerge. It teaches by provoking, not instructing. The traditional tale of Silyan: a spoiled boy cursed by his parents into a stork for the very flaws they nurtured. Who spoiled him first? This sharp irony mirrors a familiar pattern—authority without responsibility. How many parents demand obedience yet evade self-reflection? How often does society punish the fallout of problems it helped create? Inheriting confusion, hypocrisy, or neglect can be worse than starting from nothing. Yet we face these truths through laughter. Laughter isn’t trivial: it heals, exposes contradictions, and grants the distance to see clearly. Humor lets us endure what might otherwise break us. One lingering question: in a world of flawed values and harsh judgments, would any sane person truly want to grow up?
[A Masterpiece of Joy: Silyan the Stork Shance is a remarkable achievement in Macedonian theatre—a “lesson in many sciences” that resonates with both teenagers and adults, leaving a lasting sense of joy.]
[Modern Folklore Magic: This production is a “Macedonian Peter Pan,” brilliantly adapting Cepenkov’s tale into a 21st-century punk surf cabaret. With its magical light, minimalist sets, and vibrant costumes, it creates a visual and auditory feast that feels authentically modern while playfully spoofing tradition.]
[" A warm, wise lesson that joy and play are the real answers to life.]
[A joyful explosion of theatre!]
[Pure magic. Unforgettable!]
